Open Dress Rehearsals
Symphony Nova Scotia's Dress Rehearsals are an opportunity for audiences of all ages to experience the symphony in a low-risk, low-cost rehearsal setting.
All Open Dress Rehearsals take place at the Dalhousie Arts Centre, 6101 University Avenue, Halifax.
Start time is always 10:00 am on the morning of the day of the regular concert.
Cost: $19 per ticket.

Symphony Nova Scotia kicks off the series with Bruch's rich, immense Violin Concerto - one of the most hauntingly beautiful works ever written for the violin. Our special guest is legendary Canadian violinist Martin Beaver, whose massive career has included 11 years as the Tokyo String Quartet's First Violinist, a teaching position at Yale, and hundreds of acclaimed performances around the world.

After wowing Maestro Gueller at a recent performance in South Africa, emerging Colombian cellist Santiago Cañón Valencia brings his "simply tremendous playing" (The Strad) to Symphony Nova Scotia for his Canadian debut. Hear Santiago perform not just one, but two showpieces for cello - Tchaikovsky's elegant Rococo Variations and Haydn's lively, virtuosic Cello Concerto no. 1 - alongside Alberto Ginastera's brash, powerful, and bravura work, the Estancia Dances.

Since his last appearance with our orchestra back in 2010, Halifax singer-songwriter David Myles has toured the continent, won dozens of awards, and performed on the best-selling rap single in Canadian history - the triple-platinum, Juno-nominated "Inner Ninja". Now, this energetic showman brings his trademark charm and charisma back to Symphony Nova Scotia for two nights of old favourites, brand-new orchestral arrangements, and Nova Scotia soul.
