Open Dress Rehearsals

Symphony Nova Scotia's Dress Rehearsals are an opportunity for audiences of all ages to experience the symphony in a low-risk, low-cost rehearsal setting.

All Open Dress Rehearsals take place at the Dalhousie Arts Centre, 6101 University Avenue, Halifax.

Start time is always 10:00 am on the morning of the day of the regular concert.

Cost: $19 per ticket.

Rose Cousins, guitar/vocals

Born and raised in PEI, Rose Cousins is a three-time ECMA winner and “one of folk’s finest” (NPR). Since her last Symphony Nova Scotia appearance in 2009, Rose’s easy, beautiful voice and “achingly candid way with a lyric” (USA Today) have made her an international sensation. Now, Rose returns to Symphony Nova Scotia for a concert of old favourites and new hits from her latest recording, We Have Made a Spark.

Fourteen-year-old Canadian pianist Anastasia Rizikov has been called “Canada’s next superstar” and a “force of nature” (The Beat). After making her orchestral debut at age seven, this precocious teen has gone on to travel the globe, earning top prizes in a host of international competitions and dazzling critics along the way. Now, Anastasia joins Symphony Nova Scotia for the first time to perform Beethoven’s lively and joyous Piano Concerto no. 1.

Maria Osende Dance Company, dance

Join Symphony Nova Scotia and local flamenco icon Maria Osende for a sensuous evening of live music and dance. Maestro Gueller conducts a bevy of Spanish-inspired symphonic hits, including music from Bizet’s sizzling Carmen, while authentic, in-costume dancing from Halifax’s top flamenco company brings the music to life before your eyes.
