Volunteer at Symphony Nova Scotia

Here at Symphony Nova Scotia, we depend on the support of volunteers like you. Our volunteers are a vital part of our success, and assist with everything from transportation to office responsibilities to strategic leadership. We welcome volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels.

Currently, we are looking for the following volunteers:

Office receptionists

Volunteer receptionists are the first point of contact for visitors and callers at our office (5657 Spring Garden Road, Park Lane, Halifax). They answer phones, greet clients, create reports, and perform other administrative tasks.
Time commitment: one morning or afternoon per week
Skills required: basic computer skills

On-call volunteers

We rely on our on-call volunteers for assistance at concerts and special events throughout the season. E-mail us here to have your name added to our on-call volunteer e-mail list, and we will contact you when opportunities become available.

Women for Music

For more than 50 years, Women for Music has supported symphonic music in our community and our schools. This group of dedicated volunteers now concentrates on raising money for Symphony Nova Scotia with fundraising events, including biannual Book Sales, fashion shows, bridge parties, garden lectures and an annual May Fair.

New members are always welcome. Group meetings always feature an interesting and informative musical program, and are held on the first Thursday of each month, September through April, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts (6199 Chebucto Road, Halifax). Phone Hope Billard at 902.835.6630 for more information.

Or, if you'd like to support Women for Music with a donation of used books for their biannual Book Sales, drop them off at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, 6199 Chebucto Road, Halifax, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. (The drop boxes are at the coat rack.)
