Gilbert & Sullivan's The Yeomen of the Guard

Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, Dalhousie Arts Centre
In collaboration with the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Nova Scotia
"I have a song to sing, oh!" After the splendid nautical nonsense of last year's HMCS Pinafore, we're going back, back in time to a tale set in the spooky Tower of London. Colourful Beefeaters keep an innocent man imprisoned, two young maidens vie to save him, and a travelling minstrel has his heart broken.
Many consider this the finest of all the Gilbert &Sullivan collaborations. Certainly it is the most dramatic and makes full use of a larger orchestra. There are richly comic characters, an unusual depth of emotion, and some spectacular tunes. It's been a dozen years since this piece has been presented in Halifax.
Tickets: $35 regular and $30 for seniors, students, and Symphony Nova Scotia season ticket holders.
